Calcium is the body’s main alkalizer. Your body uses calcium and other minerals to counteract acidity from our foods, drinks, and from toxins. A slightly alkaline state in the body contains more oxygen. An acidic state has depleted oxygen levels.
Calcium, magnesium and other minerals even help the body deal with the excess acidity found outside cancerous tumors, to help prevent normal cells from turning cancerous and to help detoxify. Many people notice a difference taking this product compared to other mineral supplements they may be taking. One doctor specializing in cancer suggests seriously ill patients double or triple up on calcium, to more rapidly adjust alkalinity.
As a general rule, acid substances tighten; and alkaline substances relax. Minerals [including Calcium and Magnesium] are alkaline because they relax the bodyfrom tightness, tension, stiffness, spasms, twitches, tics or jerkiness as in nervousness, anxiety, anger, fear, agitation, headaches, muscle cramps, muscular disorders, menstrual cramps, arthritis, insomnia, constipation, heart palpitations, irregular heartbeats, high blood pressure, eye twitches, acne, plaque on teeth, plaque on heart and arteries due to cholesterol build-up, plaque on the brain [Alzheimer's], and an accumulation of estrogen building up inside the tissues [estrogen dominance]. A pH less than 5.3 indicates an inability to assimilate vitamins or minerals. Due to the alkalinity of minerals, they loosen tumors, including fibroid tumors, endometriosis, cysts, moles, warts, skin tags, and other growths, and cause them to release their toxins. The relaxation property of alkaline minerals causes an increase in the bile duct emptying, as is needed with a sluggish gallbladder. Alkaline substances even loosen fat from cells. In fact, until the body pH reaches 6.4, fat will not budge. Since only alkaline substances [minerals] can neutralize acids, it is clear that minerals are absolutely essential for the health and healing of the body. The body is comprised of approximately 92% minerals, all of which are critically important. In fact, it is possible to acquire a disease based on a deficiency of only one mineral. Furthermore, without minerals, vitamins have absolutely no function in the body. Unfortunately, even the best organically grown foods only contain an average of 20 minerals and most supplements contain even less.
Plant-derived nutrients are far superior to metallic minerals which come from ancient sea beds and ground up rocks [found in most mineral supplements]. Taking a highly absorbable calcium and magnesium supplement helps make the body more alkaline. There are two issues with absorption. Getting absorbed into the blood and getting absorbed into cells. Just because minerals are absorbed into the blood doesn’t mean that they will get into the cells.
The body only absorbs about 8% of metallic supplements. A chelated mineral is nothing more than a metallic mineral which has been wrapped with a protein or amino acid which helps dissolve the metallic substance; however, it is still a metallic mineral which requires digestion before providing nutritional benefit. Calcium lactate, calcium hydroxyapatite, and DL-calcium-phosphate are poorly absorbed. Calcium in the form of metallic minerals (oyster shell, egg shell, dolemite, bone meal, limestone, calcium carbonate, clay, mount moruninite, sea bed minerals, Tums and other antacids) are ground-up rocks that are poorly absorbed. Such antacids are also poorly absorbed because they neutralize the hydrochloric acid that is needed for its absorption. If you are under age 35, you only absorb 8-12%. Those over 35 absorb only 3-5%. When metallic minerals are chelated, 40% is absorbed. The worst calcium is calcium carbonate [from rocks]. Calcium citrate from oyster shell is better, but it is not acidic enough to dissolve well in the body. Some forms of coral calcium do not break down in water. The best calcium is Calcium gluconate, which is 90% vegetable, and is the purest injectable grade.
Cows' milk has no significant amount of nutrients such as iron, vitamins, complex carbohydrates, or fiber. It has calcium, but very little is absorbed from cows' milk because pasteurized milk is enzyme-dead, its high-protein content interferes with the absorption, and actually disrupts your calcium metabolism. The excess calcium that you fail to absorb is not entirely eliminated. It gets stuck in various parts of your body and causes serious disorders and diseases. Harvard studies show that milk-drinkers do not have any less frequency of osteoporosis or bone fractures. Instead, they actually had slightly more fractures than those who drank little or no milk at all. Even organic milk exposes you to an unhealthy byproduct of homogenization. During homogenization, a natural hormone found in cows'bovine milk, xanthine oxidase (BMXO), is broken down into small particles that survive our digestive process. It is suspected that these tiny particles cause internal inflammation in humans, because BMXO antibodies are significantly elevated in patients with cardiovascular disease.
This form of Calcium is known to be easily absorbed and less likely to cause the constipation and gastro-intestinal distress commonly associated with Calcium supplements. If calcium is not taken with magnesium, or it if it is not highly absorbable, it will cause much more harm than good. The unabsorbed calcium can lodge anywhere in your body and mimic practically any disease. For instances, if it lodges in your bones and joints, it mimics arthritis; if it lodges in you heart, it mimics arterial lesions; it mimics respiratory problems if it lodges in your lungs, etc. Taking the two minerals together also facilitates absorption. Biologically, magnesium and calcium are intimately interlocked. In some reactions, such as synthesis of nucleic acids and protein, calcium and magnesium are antagonistic. Magnesium is necessary for these processes, while calcium inhibits them, thus, it plays a regulatory role. Magnesium and calcium collaborate, however, in the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Magnesium appears to regulate the gate through which calcium enters into cells to switch on such vital functions as heartbeat. Magnesium is necessary to bind calcium for the formation of hard tooth enamel. Both minerals are important in bone formation and muscular contractions.
Studies show that magnesium increases bone density up to 11% each year. Women should take calcium, magnesium and other vital minerals for osteoporosis. Magnesium has more health benefits attributed to it than any other mineral. It is mainly found in the bones and inside the cells, where it is necessary for the metabolism of and other nutrients. A deficiency of calcium, magnesium and other alkaline minerals can result in bone loss. Magnesium is distributed in the body as 70% in the bone and 30% in the soft tissues. It is absolutely necessary to life in that it acts as a co-enzyme in carbohydrate and protein metabolism, as a factor in neuromuscular contraction, and as an aid in regulating acid-alkaline balance. It aids in the absorption of calcium, phosphorus, sodium and potassium and in the utilization of vitamins B, C, and E. Magnesium may be important in regulating body temperature.

According to a recent Washington Post article, a new and especially maliciousstrain of Clostridium difficile [C. diff ]- a bacterial infection that used to be routinely easy to knock out with antibiotics – is ravaging a growing number of youthful, robust Americans. Health officials from the CDC and other agencies are worried, and at least two experts sourced in the article (an infectious disease authority from Johns Hopkins University and another from Harvard Medical School) are pointing the finger at antibiotics and possibly antacids. Antacids suppress stomach acid, which facilitates the growth of bacteria. Data indicates that people taking antacids, including Prilosec, Prevacid, Pepcid, Zantac, and others of that type (H2 receptor antagonists) or other proton-pump inhibitors (a popular class of antacids) are 2-3 times more likely to develop killer C. diff as those who do not take them.One CDC expert cited for the Post article claims that the number of C. diff infections doubled in just one year, from 2002 to 2003. And as many as 500,000 to several million cases are now expected each year in the U.S. alone. Historically, this infection carried a low mortality rate, but now it is much more fatal. In just onerecent outbreak in Canada, for example, C. diff proved fatal in nearly 7% OFCASES, and was implicated in over 400 deaths!
