My Personal Health Experiences
As a young adult, I was diagnosed with one chronic inflammatory condition after another, including Pulmonary Sarcoidosis Disease, Epstein-Barr Virus [EBV], Cytomegalovirus [CMV], Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Adrenal Exhaustion, and Fibromyalgia symptoms, to name only a few. Needless to say, they all took their toll on my immune system, which rendered me vulnerable to numerous acute illnesses. In the midst of this ordeal, I experienced a near-fatal bout of systemic food poisoning that severely affected practically every organ system in my body for more than two years. During the course of my "darkest hours", I frantically sought help from at least 25 Medical Physicians, including top-notch specialists, each of whom subjected me to their invasive diagnostic procedures, numerous x-rays, and a host of synthetic antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Frankly, the vast majority of the doctors were quite arrogant, insensitive, impatient, and abrupt. Had I not been so ill, I probably would have found their false sense of grandiosity quite humorous. But instead, I acknowledged it as their learned ego defense mechanism to make up for their shortcomings.
Not only did they have no cures, but there were essentially no nutritional recommendations offered, and no discussion of the dangerous medication "Side Effects" that were to come later from the synthetic drugs. Synthetic chemicals are never without eventual serious consequences. Unfortunately, Conventional Medicine does not concur with this "School of Thought". Only Naturopathic Medicine recognizes that synthetic chemicals may be stored in the body for years and years before noticeable damage occurs. Eventually, your body will explode with toxic build-up, leading to cellular disharmony and organ malfunction. The truth is that nature never has and never will cooperate with man in his futile attempts to create synthetic chemicals, which are incompatible with the human body.
I was at my wit's end. I had heard about and read about Natural Medicine since the sixties decade. I wanted desperately to find a practitioner who could actually relate first-hand to the perils of physical suffering. I would have given anything for a mere telephone consultation with an experienced Natural Medicine Practitioner who could give me sound counsel, along with compassion and understanding. But where in the world was one to go to find a Naturopathic or Holistic Physician? Ultimately, I could not find one, so I was prompted to become one.
Through my own independent research and experimentation, I began my journey away from Orthodox Medicine, and set out on a personal crusade to find healing beginning in the decade of the seventies. Little did I know that I had a long hard road ahead of me. What I needed to learn was not to be found in traditional classrooms using standard textbooks written by the same Medical Profession which had been unable to help me in the first place. Through the "School of Hard Knocks", I had to diligently seek out my teachers and mentors, and independently study their works and publications. Fortunately, I found many great Holistic Practitioners whose teachings I embraced and applied.
I was fascinated with everything that I learned about the art of healing from this Holistic perspective-- meaning Body, Mind and Spirit. In my quest for knowledge and answers, I have spent much of my life studying and earning credentials which reflect my commitment to healing. But during this time I also experienced a tremendous surge of spiritual growth and empowerment. I learned the crucial role that the Spiritual aspect plays in our healing. Through my undying faith in a loving God, I came to believe that my Creator allowed me to suffer so many health problems so that I would be led to discover the real truth about disease and healing. It was my faith and my compliance to the Laws of Nature that literally "brought me back from Death's Door". God is my witness. The fact that I am alive and healthy speaks to that Testament.
I SHALL NEVER FORGET WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE SICK...AND I MEAN REALLY SICK! I vowed to myself and to my God that I would dedicate my life to teaching and helping others who are seriously willing to learn the Principles of Natural and Holistic Healing.
