SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM
INTRODUCTION

For Substance Abusers,
the craving for their drug of choice becomes
the dominant force that rules their lives.
Why do some people develop this craving
and others do not?
Research indicates that
genetic factors are a major pre-disposing element.
Certain individuals are born with an inability to produce a normal amount of endorphins and enkephalins.
These nuero-transmitters are brain chemicals
that make us feel good,
allow us to experience pleasure,
and give us a "natural high".
Anyone who cannot experience these feelings naturally feels unfulfilled.
Therefore, if a drug allows them to experience
these pleasurable feelings that they are unable to experience naturally, they go for it.
  Over a period of time,
the brain becomes sub-consciously programmed for the pattern of craving drugs, using drugs,
craving drugs, using drugs, and on and on.
The cravings get stronger, and the using gets heavier.   Meanwhile the brain's normal chemistry
becomes more imbalanced with this regimented pattern
than it was before.
The balance of body, mind and spirit
also becomes upset.
Keep in mind that your sub-conscious mind
is independent of your thinking mind.
Your thinking mind works slower.
Programming of the sub-conscious memory
leads to continuous use of the substance
because the sub-conscious is the part of your brain
that is in charge of your habits.
Then the body finally develops a physical need for it.
The process is cumulative,
and it happens so silently and insideously.
  As it is happening,
the user most likely does not think of himself
as being sick,
and he certainly does not recognize this addiction
as being a disease.

In order to break this habitual pattern,
the sub-conscious mind must be re-programmed
using effective techniques of hypnosis.

Alcohol reduces several amino acid neuro-transmitter chemicals.
Neuro-transmitters are the chemicals
which foster communication between
the brain and the rest of the body.
These chemicals include dopamine--
related to the reward and pleasure center,
Serotonin--  related to sleep,
GABA--  related to anxiety,
Norepinephrine--  related to depression, and
Enkephalins--  related to cravings.

Even though the brain's chemical messengers
are reduced by alcohol,
they may be restored by supplementing the diet
with specific amino acids and other nutrients
for 1-3 years.
This is because  these neuro-transmitters
are made of amino acids.
Replacing them restores the brain's
nutritional chemical imbalance
and reverses organ damage.

that the user does not care about
its harmful side effects.
When the user is not high,
the depression is so incredibly low
that it also makes the user not care what hapens to him.

MARIJUANA FACTS

THC is the mind-altering drug in Marijuana
plus over 400 other chemicals along with it.

When Marijuana is absorbed into the fatty tissues,
it stays in the system for 30 days.

It is over 10 times stronger today
than it was in the seventies decade.

Marijuana is very psychologically dependent.

It reinforces anxiety and depression.
It has a negative effect on your short-term memory, judgment, attention span, concentration,
reflexes, and coordination.
It causes confusion in thought processes,
feelings of losing control, hallucinations,
paranoia, and panic.

Long-time usage has a negative effect on your brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, and reproductive system
of both sexes.
It reduces lung capacity,  increases lung damage,
and increases the rate of Emphysema.
It reduces your resistance to infection
by affectng your immune system.
It also results in psychological problems
as well as reduced intellectual functioning.

ALCOHOL FACTS

Alcohol is the Number 1 Drug-Abuse problem--
even more prevalent than cigarette-smoking.

Alcohol is the nation's third leading health problem--
right behind Heart Diease and Cancer,
and it  dissipates a person's health
and devastates a person's life
moreso than any other drug.

50% of all motor vehicle accidents are alcohol-related.
...60% of all homicides
...1/3 of all suicides
...40% of all rapes
...38% of all child abuse

Alcoholism costs the Health Care Industry
$60 billion per year.

1 beer is 4%-8% alcohol
1 glass wine is 12%-20% alcohol
1 glass hard liquor is 30%-50%
100-proof means it is 50% alcohol

25% of all hospitalized patients
have alcohol-related problems.

Alcoholism is a progressive illness
that eventually damages every major organ of the body.
Among the more serious illnesses are
Liver Cirrhosis, Heart disease and Diabetes.
Tobacco smoke contains
about 4000 chemicals
including 43 known carcinogens
(cancer-causing)
and 200 known poisons such as DDT, benzene, hydrocarbons, arsenic, cyanide,
formaldehyde, and carbon monoxide.
Everytime someone smokes,
these poisons are released into the air,
and everyone around who inhales them are subject to develop the same deadly diseases as the smoker himself;
and children of smoking parents are especially susceptible to respiratory distress.
There is sufficient evidence
to support the contention that
52,000 non-smokers die each year
from passive second-hand smoke.
That comes to 1000 deaths per week.
It has been adequately referred to as
pulmonary rape.

CIGARETTE SMOKING FACTS

Cigarettes kill 1000 Americans daily.

25% of all smokers are addicted.
The Nicotine in it is a physically-dependent drug, and the act of smoking itself is also psychologically habit-forming.

By a long shot, smoking is the largest avoidable and needless cause of death and disability
in the USA.

There are 1/2 million tobacco-related deaths
each year.
Of this number, 52,000 are non-smokers
      and 430,000 are smokers.

If you smoke a pack of cigarettes per day,
that is approximately 75,000 puffs per year.

Smokers have a much higher death rate than non-smokers.
1 in 6 Americans die as a result of smoking.

Smoking is the Number 1 killer of
Recovering Drug Addicts.

Smokers have 9 times the risk of lung cancer, except for men who are over 35.
Their risk is 22 times more likely.

Women smokers over the age of 35 are 11 times more likley to die from Emphysema or chronic bronchitis than non-smoking women.

Cigarette smoking is the most dominant reason why Heart Disease continues to remain the Number 1 Killer.
It is a direct cause of Lung Cancer, Emphysema,
Bronchitis and Pneumonia.

Why do people continue to smoke?
Because 15 million adults
refuse to believe these facts.

However, 2.5 million people
do quit smoking every year.
That leaves 49 million Americans
who still smoke.
CAFFEINE FACTS

Caffeine is very addictive.
Trying to quit usually causes a headache and misery
for several days.

Caffeine does not generate energy.
Instead, it taps into your stored energy and depletes it.

Caffeine causes

Cellular trauma
Nervousness
Emotional disturbances
Interference with nutrient absorption
Glandular exhaustion
Headaches
Acne

Its toxic residue accumulates and is stored in the body.  These toxins cause and contribute to
Cancer, Heart Attacks, Strokes,
Liver damage, Pancreas damage,
and other health problems.

Common sources of Caffeine are
coffee, tea, certain soft drinks, chocolate, and Aspirin.
